Hello Family,
There is so much to say....with so little time. My evangelistic trip actually started on the airplane. This was so exciting for me me, but very out of my comfort zone. Todd & I were seated together & I took the middle seat so Todd would not have to sit by the stranger the whole trip & so he wouldn't be trapped in. (If you know Todd he couldn't sit still for 14 hours. He had to get up and take pictures out the back window.) The lady I sat next to name was Glenda she lived in Korea, originally from Mississippi. She is in the Army. She is the private secretary for the 4 star General here in Korea. We talked about her family. She had been married & divorced twice. She had 2 teenage children, that did not return to Korea with her. They are tired of moving & stayed in the States with her second husband. I listened for a long time, I told her that we worked with students & I asked her if I could pray for her. I invited her to church on Sunday. She said she would try to come. (come to find out there is more than one Calvary) It was a good start to my trip.
We arrive at Calvary and we are treated like celebrities. They had hung a huge banner with our picture on it. Do you know how bizarre it is see your face enlarged out on the street, in a new country? They greeted us with clapping, cheering & shaking our hands. They gave us beautiful bouquets of flowers. They took us to eat the largest meal of my life at a very nice restaurant, this was hard because we had not slept in about 28 hours. I tried almost everything. We get home to our "home stay family" & they had bought ice cream for us. We sat at the table & talked and ate ice cream & fruit for about a hour. I was so full but they had just made a special trip to the market for us. Bed time finally.
We got up the next morning (1st morning - Sat. in Korea) Our family made bacon (I think they associate that with Americans) some kind of egg, hand made sausage, & fruit. The fruit was white & they called it melon. They bought orange juice & grape juice from market for us. (come to find out Koreans don't drink beverages with meal. They drink soup. Todd had a meeting at 12:00 at the church, to explain our week to us. Not even 10 minutes into the meeting the Pastor Won rushes in & says "Todd there is someone here that has not heard the gospel..please tell." Todd shared the gospel to 3 people straight. Then another person comes & they rush me to a table to share with a 19 year old boy. Todd & I shared the gospel with people while the rest of the team arrived and was grabbed...I mean grabbed to share with people. We did this for hours. Some people came just to hear & see the Americans but others had a true experience with God. Amazing! Some had never heard of Jesus before. I was shocked as I shared the gospel that when I would come to the part & say "Is there any good reason why you cannot receive Jesus Christ right now?" They would say No, I can't think of a reason. Why do we make salvation so hard in America? Why can't it be this easy? Why don't we drag our neighbors to come hear the good news of Jesus Christ?
